Billy Powell, Lynyrd Skynyrd keyboardist dies at Florida home

Billy Powell, keyboardist for 2006 Rock Hall inductees Lynyrd Skynyrd died Wednesday at his home in Florida according to the Associated Press.

Powell, 56, had a history of heart problems and called 911 himself at about 12:55 A.M. complaining of breathing difficulty. Paramedics were dispatched to his home but were unable to revive him.

Fall Out Boy to perform in Cleveland in May

Chicago crosovver emo-Kings Fall Out Boy will be hitting the road this Spring with their Believers Never Die Part Deux Spring to promote their fourth album Folie a Deux which was released in December and peaked at number 8 on the Billboard 200 where it currently resides at # 39.
The tour will hit Cleveland's Time Warner Amphitheater on Tuesday, May 12 with Cobra Starship, All Time Low, Metro Station and Hey Monday as support acts.

Tickets Go onsale on January 31st, prices TBA, but in the press release F.O.B. says that given the downward spiral the economy is currently in, tickets prices will be "comptetive" with many markets getting to see the band for $25.

A.I. Champ David Cook Nearly Played Akron

According to an official press release sent out today from the tour cog in the American Idol Machine (AOL, in case you're wondering) currently guiding winner David Cook's nascent career Akron fans were oh, very close to experiencing Cook, right here at downtown Akron club Musica.

Britney Spears song sparks new "controversy"

While the economy continues to makes itself comfortable in the proverbial dumpster and television is littered with Reality TV shows that celebrate unfettered skankiness (I'm lookin' at you Brett Michaels), vanity, self-absorption and generally the worst parts of the human psyche The Parents Television Council (that's right "Television") has ignited a controversy over Britney Spears' latest single If U Seek Amy.

The song, a standard, midtempo, synth-heavy club thumper isn't all that interesting on its own (though it took four people to write it), but it's the hook that has the undies of PTC folks in Australia and the states all bunched up.
If you recall the fifth grade, you may have already noticed the root of the controversy.

Fleetwood Mac to Play Cleveland in April

Live Nation and Quickens Loans Arena announced Monday that Classic rockers Fleetwood Mac will perform at "Da Q" on Friday, April 17.
The tour dubbed Greatest Hits "Unleashed" tour will feature the current version of the band i.e. Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham, Mick Fleetwood and John McVie.

Tickets for the show will be $49.50, $79.50 and (gulp) $150 and will go on sale Monday,January 26 at all Ticketmaster locations and
