Yikes, hopefully this isn't a sign of trouble in the Midwest Reggae Fest camp, but the venerable 21 year-old N.E. Ohio reggae music festival has scrapped their Friday night slate of acts.

If your a fan of the late 80's-mid 90's "True School" era of hip hop than get ready to break out your Cross Colors overalls and Batman T-shirts for the Fifth Annual Akron Hip Hop Showcase.

The finalized lineup is:

Soul singer Bettye LaVette coming of a critically acclaimed 2010 album Interpretations: The British Rock Songbook has prepared her next album also consisting covers including a cover of the Black Keys I'm Not The One and Gnarls Barkley's Crazy

Gregg Ginn, Punk legend and founding member of legendary Punk band Black Flag will bring his new project Gregg Ginn & The Royal We to Annabell's Wednesday night to celebrate the 4th!

If you're coming to the show in the hope of hearing "Rise Above" you may need to temper our expectations as THE ROYAL WE is NOT a punk or traditional rock band, but more of an electronic flavored instrumental rock thing and the songs are pretty long. Nevertheless you will be in the presence of Punk Rock Royalty....check out this Official video and I'll buy a shot for the first fool who yells out "PLAY SLIP IT IN!!!"
