Smashing Pumpkins are still a's the proof

Ok, so Billy Corgan, the last (and most important) man standing from the original lineup of the Smashing Pumpkins is bringing the current lineup of SmashPumps to the House of Blues on July 6.

You may recall that the band's most recent album 2007's Zeitgeist it's first since breaking up and reforming sucked big time.
Corgan went with musical blunt force and lyrical blunt anger and it added up to a plodding boring album.

Well, that was then and this is now, and right now, Corgan and the band (guitarist JEFF SCHROEDER, drummer MIKE BYRNE and new bassist NICOLE FIORENTINO) have released a FREE EP TEARGARDEN BY KALEIDYSCOPE VOL.1: SONGS FOR A SAILOR to remind fans that the band still exists.
It's only four songs but they're all better than everything on Zeitgeist and bring back some of the heavily layered guitar and traces of psychedelia that made Gish a cool record.
Corgan said in the press release that the EP “harkens back to the original psychedelic roots of The Smashing Pumpkins; atmospheric, melodic, heavy, and pretty.”

Check it out for yourself right here.
