By Malcolm Abram Published: August 26, 2016

Are you a collector/hoarder of rock memorabilia? Do you have a bunch of posters, handbills and other junk from a lifetime of Rockin' Out with Your (favoritebodyparthere) Out? Well, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Archives want to rumple, fetishize and scan your rock memorabilia for posterity!

On Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Rock Hall archivist will scan regular folks memorabilia for free!

Oh yeah, and maybe use it in future Rock Hall exhibits

So, bring your "photos, handbills, programs, and other flat rock and roll memorabilia – 8.5” x 11” in size or smaller – to be digitized and potentially included in the Rock Hall’s permanent collection. Items related to the history of Northeast Ohio popular music are of particular interest. Ticket stubs and press passes are not being collected at this time but can be digitized and preserved for personal use during the event."

Jazz bassist/chanteuse Esperanza Spalding coming to Kent Stage

By Malcolm Abram Published: August 11, 2016

I'll admit it.

I have a crush on Ms. Spalding and her prodigious talent. The bassist/singer/composer who is coming to the Kent Stage on Sunday Oct. 23 is also also one of most favorite interview subjects ever; smart, funny, warm friendly and expansive and let us not forget the atom bomb afro.

Spalding's traded in the 'fro for some big ass braids to help illustrate her sort of concept album/alter-ego Emily's D+Evolution (Emily is her middle name) featuring six tracks co-produced by Bowie co-hort Tony Visconti. The full stage show is also quite the theatrical audio/visual experience with Spalding acting out parts and playing and dancin and such.

Spalding was in Cleveland earlier this year but now she'll be at the Kent Stage, a much more intimiate venue.

Ms. Lauryn Hill coming to Hard Rock Live in September

By Malcolm Abram Published: August 1, 2016

Singer/songwriter Ms. Lauryn Hill has will be embarking on another one of her short tour jaunts that’s shes been doing since the aughts and will finally be bringing her show to N.E. Ohio.

Hill will be performing at Hard Rock Live at Hard Rock Rocksino Northfield Park on Sunday, September 18.

Let’s be honest, Hill’s track record for live performances hasn’t been great the past decade or so. For every review or Twitter trend after she gives great performances there are other times when Hill either shows up several hours late as she did earlier this year in Atlanta cancels altogether.

In other words, buyer beware.
