Pitt freshman quarterback Tra'von Chapman, a Kent Roosevelt graduate, is awaiting word from Pitt Chancellor Mark A. Nordenberg on his status for this school year and his future on the football team, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review is reporting.

Chapman has been suspended from the team and unable to attend classes since he was arrested in April for assaulting a former girlfriend in Kent. He pleaded guilty and served a three-day jail term last month.
