New Orange Bowl deal shows how TV money is big prize

By Ron Ledgard Published: July 3, 2012

CBS Sports college football analyst Dennis Dodd breaks down what the new postseason playoff construction will look like and he also describes how the TV contracts are a source for more money for the big five conferences. Here is the link.

He says the Rose Bowl (Big Ten-Pac 12, Champions Bowl (SEC-Big 12) and Orange Bowl (ACC) will have their own TV deals. Right now, ESPN has the Rose Bowl rights until 2026. The other two are open to bid.

The champions pack (Sugar, Fiesta and new title game) will be sold as a TV pack.

In other words, lots of money will be going around and really this, more than ever, locks out the other conferences from the cash bonanza.

Should be interesting to watch how.
