As for what is happening at the Beacon Journal, we are now working on a new computer system. There have been a few hiccups along the way, but we seem to getting our footing now. We just had a major planning meeting for the high school football section. That will include a lot more video for

The news of the day for me is it seems the NFL labor situation will be resolved in time to have a normal regular season. All indications is that won't be the case in the NBA. The owners want a hard cap and they seem very united for a number around $45 million. That is a big change from the situation today. Big change usually equals big fight.

Here are some items from today:

Indians made several runs at the Diamondbacks but in the end fell 6-4. Lonnie Chisenhall is excited but the news on Shin-Soo Choo hasn't changed.

Several reports are that Chris Jent is leaving the Cavaliers for Ohio State. Jason Lloyd's story says that is not a done deal yet.

And one area where we are providing more news that ever before is on college football recruitiing of local players and what is going on around the state involving Akron and Kent State. That a look every day for updates on Varsity Letters.
