Apple grabs ESPN app for its television box

For those who pay little attention to such things, Apple’s move today to acquire access to two of the streaming world’s most popular apps – HBO to Go and WatchESPN – represents a seismic shift in the world of content streaming.

Actually, let’s forget about HBO for now.  It’s ESPN’s app, which allows access to a regular sports buffet of content across the worldwide leader’s assorted channels that officially makes Apple and its AppleTV box no longer a curiosity in the world of streaming.

Finals Game 6 scores in big way for ABC

From an ESPN news release:

NBA Finals Game 6 on ABC – the Miami Heat defeated the San Antonio Spurs to even the series in an overtime thriller – scored a 14.7 overnight rating, according to Nielsen. This is the second highest-rated NBA Finals Game 6 ever on ABC and the fourth highest rated game ever on the network.

Pioli set to join NBC's 'Football Night in America'

From and NBC news release:  Longtime NFL front office veteran and former NFL Executive of the Year Scott Pioli is joining Football Night in America, NBC’s NFL studio program and the most-watched regularly-scheduled studio program in sports. He will also appear regularly on Pro Football Talk, NBC Sports Network’s daily NFL program hosted by ProFootballTalk.com founder and NFL Insider Mike Florio.

Pioli, who helped the New England Patriots win three Super Bowls as head of their player personnel department and who most recently served as general manager of the Kansas City Chiefs, will provide insight across both Football Night and Pro Football Talk into the workings of NFL teams’ front offices.
