The Mid-American Conference will switch the company that operates its website, according to a Tweet sent by David Meluni of vice president of sales and business development for Sidearm Sports.
Currently XOS Digital handles the conference website www.mac-sports.com which provides stats, acts as a portal to streaming and general news.
The news of the switch, however, may be welcomed by MAC fans for a number of reasons. In its current incarnation the site is clunky, somewhat awkward and is prone to bugs.
Additionally, whether a function of the signals it receives from schools or broadcast entities, streaming video could test a viewer’s patience, never was that more noticeable than during the MAC Tournament this year.
No one knows whether Sidearm Sports will be any better, but MAC fans can dare to dream, no?
The most intriguing aspect of this deal? What the company could bring.
Live stats and live video streaming are to be expected, but one feature missing from the current site? Decent mobile access that includes those things.
If the MAC wants to continue expanding its fan base, that’s a feature that’s essential given the fact that approximately 80 percent of those in the 18-24 and 25-34 demographics own smartphones, according to reports.
