When NBC acquired broadcast rights to Premier League soccer, arguably the most popular sports league on the planet (sorry NFL), they announced that they were “going all in.”
There’s nothing quite like putting your money where your mouth is. NBCUniversal put up about $250 million for a three-year deal, according to reports and now they are looking to tap into a segment of the America’s sports fans that possess passion but may be still considered negligible.
On the NBC Sports Network, NBCU’s national sports network, the Premier League will certainly be given NFL-like treatment. Soccer fans can expect a broadcast schedule that includes:
For subscribers to DirecTV, AT&T U-verse and DISH Network, that’s a bonus. If you have Time Warner, you’re out of luck, according to a press release. The dominant video service in Northeast Ohio won’t offer it.
Additionally, every game will be available on NBC Sports Live Extra, NBC’s streaming app for desktops, laptops, smartphones and tablet.
