He’s only held a Cleveland Browns jersey to anyone’s knowledge, yet Johnny Fever has stricken Northeast Ohio already.
Rabid fans were partying seconds after the Browns brain trust passed Johnny Manziel's selection card on to the brain trust at the NFL for announcement at the podium in New York City.
Now one of the region’s sports talk radio stations is getting in on the act.
WKNR (850 AM), known locally as ESPN Cleveland, changed its name to ESPN JohnnyCleveland out of “respect” for the Texas A&M quarterback whom the Browns drafted Thursday night at No. 22.
“We felt it was the right thing to do for the city of Cleveland,” said the station’s general manager Keith Williams. “ESPN Johnny Cleveland is proud to be the voice of the fans in Cleveland and will continue to be a place for Browns fans to come together and celebrate the start of a new season.”
Makes you wonder what will happen around here if Manziel proves to be the Browns football messiah.”
