Acme to offer Really Big Growler
The Acme Fresh Market in Montrose is breaking out The Really Big Growler for The Really Big Show host Tony Rizzo.
Rizzo, who’s heard on WKNR (850-AM) in Northeast Ohio, will be the special guest at a beer tasting featuring Thirsty Dog Brewing and Great Lakes Brewing from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday (June 15) at the grocery store.
Acme, which sponsors the radio program, will unveil its new 2-liter growler, an item that store beer buyer Jon Albrecht affectionately calls a Conan the Barbarian-type container.
The glass growler was made in Germany and features a porcelain flip top, steel handle and the Acme logo. It costs $24.99 – the beer is extra.
The Montrose store recently opened a draft beer station with six taps and people will be able to purchase samples or growlers of Thirsty Dog Old Druid Bloodhound Saison, Bourbon Barrel Aged Wee Heavy and Terrier Pale Ale; and Great Lakes Lake Erie Monster, Wright Pils and Grand Cru. The samples will cost 25 cents to 50 cents, depending on the beer.
Great Lakes also is providing a firkin of Commodore Perry IPA that will be will infused with fresh pineapple and coconut.
There also will be a drawing for a $100 Acme gift card.
Acme now offers draft beer at six of its stores. The grocer updates its beer selection on its Facebook page.
