Barley's Smokehouse & Brewpub in Columbus is busy with new releases. "We''ve got a bunch of fun stuff coming out of the brewery in the next month or so," co-owner Lenny Kolada said in an email.
Here's the rundown:
-- Robert Burns Scottish Export Ale, made special for the fifth annual Robert Burns Dinner, (which is sold out). The beer includes smoked malt. It will be tapped Wednesday. (Jan. 22)
-- Saint Joan's Revenge, a Russian imperial stout with 11.7 percent alcohol by volume. It was made for the Oysters & Stout event on Feb. 6. The brewpub will feature oysters on the half shell paired with craft stouts and porters, and, of course, Saint Joan's Revenge.
-- Woody Haze 101, a barrel-conditioned ale first brewed last year to commemorate what would have been Woody Hayes' 100th birthday. "Last year, it didn't last a week," Kolada said. "We call it Woody because it's matured in an oak barrel; We call it Haze because it's unfiltered, like the man." It goes on tap Feb. 14, which is Valentine's Day and Hayes' birthday.
-- Basin Street Wheat, a wheat beer bordering on wheat wine. "This is a new beer that we brewed to celebrate Carnival in New Orleans," Kolada said. "Basin Street is a reference to the avenue in New Orleans and as a shoutout to Basin Street Blues by Louis Armstrong." It will be tapped in mid-February.
-- Highland Hammer, a "peated IPA" which includes smoked malt. It will be tapped in late February.
-- Bourbon Street Wheat, a barrel-conditioned version of Basin Street Wheat. It will be tapped on March 4 to celebrate Fat Tuesday.
