-- This falls into the shameless self-promotion category: The Lima News stopped by the Beers of Ohio beer tasting in Minster on Saturday and wrote a story about my talk about how it's the best time ever to be an Ohio beer drinker. To read the full story, click here.
-- The Pittsburth Post Gazette has a story about where to hang out in Cleveland when the Steelers play the Browns on Sunday. The story mentions Great Lakes Brewing Co., Market Garden Brewery, BottleHouse Brewery and the Buckeye Beer Engine as places to grab a beer. It also notes that the Winking Lizard Tavern in Cleveland Heights is "Steeler friendly." To read the full travel story, click here.
-- USAToday reviews Bitter Brew, the story about the "rise and fall" of Anheuser-Busch, which has a brewery in Columbus. "Really, what author could resist? The hostile takeover of Anheuser-Busch, its diminished presence in St. Louis (and the rest of the United States), the immense profitability of InBev, and the changes in the character of iconic beer brands add up to a compelling business saga," the newspaper says. "Even more, the continuing saga of the Busch family through five generations in the United States constitutes a real-life soap opera so outsized—and so tragic—that no author could make it boring. Fathers and sons battled each other. Brothers and cousins undercut each other. The women in the mix sometimes attained personal wealth, but at great cost to their mental and physical health." -- Breweries have been advertising less in magazines so far this year compared with the same time period last year, Business Insider reports. Bud Lights and Michelob were the most advertised brands. To read the report, click here.
