-- Nine craft breweries around the country teamed up as part of the Hops for Heroes project to brew a special beer to support military families. The beer, called Homefront IPA, is made with orange peel and unfinished maple Louisville Sluggers, the Associated Press reports. "I was always taught when I was growing up to help out the people that help you," Chris Ray, co-founder of Center of the Universe Brewing Co. in suburban Richmond, told the news service . -- Bloomberg reports that Germans are calling for their government to block fracking in the country because they're worried it could taint the purity of beer. "We are concerned that fracking endangers brewing water that more than half of Germany's breweries take from private wells," Marc-Oliver Huhnholz, a spokesman for the Association of German Breweries, told the news service.
