Blues & Brews website goes live
The seventh annual Blues & Brews beer festival in Akron -- one of the largest beer events in Northeast Ohio -- returns Aug. 6. The festival website is up and running with details about how to get tickets and even how to volunteer at the event. General admission tickets are $35 in advance or $55 for the Brewer's Circle. (Tickets jump $5 the day of the event.) The Brewer's Circle runs from noon to 2 p.m., and the general admission portion is from 2 to 6 p.m. Although a list of breweries isn't online yet, the website says there will be more than 200 beers available from 73 breweries. In case you're wondering, the parking will be free at the Lock 3 garage. The event is presented by Akron's Thirsty Dog Brewing Co. and the Winking Lizard Tavern, with Acme Fresh Markets and Tramonte Distributing as sponsors. If you've got great drinking stamina, Thirsty Dog will be offering tours at its brewery -- located just about a mile away -- from 6 to 11 p.m. after the festival.
