The brew bus craze that's sweeping the country is coming to Columbus. Columbus Brew Adventures will launch next month (September) as Central Ohio's first brewery and distillery tour operator.
The business, owned by Bethia Woolf and Jim Ellison, will shuttle beer fans around the Columbus area in a 14-passenger van to visit four or five breweries as part of organized tours.
"Central Ohio has an exciting craft brewing scene that we want to share with visitors and locals alike," Ellison said in a prepared statement. "This is the perfect time for the creation of a tour company that will allow us to share our passion for this artisan community."
Woolf is the co-owner Columbus Food Adventures, a Columbus-based food tour business, and Ellison is a food blogger, certified Kansas City BBQ judge, local culinary insider and craft beer enthusiast.
Columbus Brew Adventures will debut with six tour options, each of which provide a range of beer samplings, appetizers and locations. In addition to sampling, the business wants to provide an insider’s view of Columbus's craft beer and spirits scene.
The initial tours include Grandview and downtown Columbus; a distillery and spirits focused tour; a "Meet The Brewers" offering; and Sunday excursions into Licking County and Athens.
Columbus Brew Adventures offers both ticketed tours and private group tours. Public tours will be limited to 14 people. All tours include include transportation, tastings and light appetizers. Tickets are on sale now and start at $55 per person. The first tour is Sept. 7.
