Consumer Reports magazine has anointed Coors as the best-tasting American lager -- at least among the ones tested during a blind sampling. "It has balanced flavors with some citrus notes, and no off-tastes," the magazine concluded in its report, which appears in the February issue. Coors, Name Tag, Big Flats Lager 1901 and Miller High Life earned a "Very Good" rating from the magazine and were selected as a Consumer Reports "Best Buy." (Name Tag is made for Trader Joe's, while Big Flats is a Walgreens brand.) The magazine also sampled Corona Extra, Budweiser, Miller Lite, Bud Light, Coors Light and Corona Light. Craft beer fans will find plenty to chuckle about when it comes to taste testing what many consider beer with no flavor. "None of these beers has enough complexity and balance to be excellent, but Coors comes fairly close," the magazine concluded.
