Fifty Fest, a special beer and music festival, begins at noon Saturday (Sept. 7) and runs until midnight at Fifty West Brewing Co. in Cincinnati. In addition to eight bands providing live music on two stages, the event features beer from Rhinegeist, MadTree, Mt. Carmel, Blank Slate, Triple Digit and, of course, Fifty West.
The festival is free to attend. You have to pay for the beer you drink and food you eat.
Fifty West co-owner Whit Hesser said they are looking forward to the festival. "Absolutely -- and also totally appreciative of all the local breweries who are taking part -- it wouldn't be the same without their participation," he said.
The following brews -- along with Fifty West's regular lineup -- will be available all day: Rhinegeist Truth and Fiction, Triple Digit Chickow!, Mt. Carmel Harvest Ale, MadTree Psychopathy and Identity Crisis, and Blank Slate Pitter Patter and Out and About.
There also will be special releases throughout the day: Rhinegeist Monogamy 1 Hop Pale Ale at noon; Triple Digit Coconut Chickow! at 3 p.m.; Mt. Carmel Session Pale Ale at 5 p.m.; MadTree Double IPA at 7 p.m.; and Fifty West Coconut Vanilla Porter at 9 p.m.
