Fifty West Brewing Co. in Cincinnati has announced a jam-packed February schedule, which includes the brewpub releasing limited edition bottles.
The brewery will launch a new 750ml bottle series called Remus' Revenge on Feb. 11 and expects to issue specialty bottled beers every two months. There will be only 100 to 200 bottles available each time.
Co-owner Blake Horsburgh said the brewery has sours, bourbon and funky beers planned. The first bottle released will be bourbon barrel-aged Ardads Advice, which is a Belgian-style golden strong ale.
"I'm really pumped about this," he said. "From the get-go, I wanted to do it."
Other special events and beers in February include:
-- Feb 4: "Penny Flips Tuesday" will debut. When ordering a beer, people can guess heads or tails on a coin flip. If they guess correctly, the beer is half off. If they're wrong, it's regular price. The promotion will be held every Tuesday.
-- Feb. 6: Fifty West will start offering a cask beer every Thursday.
-- Feb. 12: The brewpub will host the "Cross Town Showdown," a five-course beer pairing dinner that will feature samples of both Fifty West and Listermann brews. Tickets are $35 in advance and $50 at the door.
-- Feb. 13: Fifty West and Fat Head's Brewery will collaborate on a beer. "We're still working on the recipe and everything," Horsburgh said. "It'll probably be some strong, hoppy beer." The collaboration brew is expected to be released in April.
-- Feb 14: Valentine's Day Raspberry Chocolate Porter will be released.
-- Feb. 19: Fifty West will launch an educational series about beer. Horsburgh expects 20 to 30 people sitting around, tasting and learning about beer.
