Fifty West Brewing Co. is doubling its capacity by adding five 10-barrel fermenters and will start delivering draft beer throughout Cincinnati. The new fermenters are expected to arrive at the beginning of September and the brewery hopes to have beer at bars and restaurants in October.
"We decided to distribute in Cincinnati purely due to proximity," co-owner Whit Hesser said in an email. "We are located in Cincinnati and since we are beginning with self-distribution as opposed to signing on with a distributor it will be easiest for us to keep up with our draft accounts."
The brewpub also recently opened on Wednesdays and Sunday mornings. Fifty West is now open from 4 p.m. to midnight Wednesday, and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday for brunch. (It's also open Thursday, Friday and Saturday.)
"We have received a substantial amount of feedback asking us to open Wednesday for a more 'relaxing' night at the brewery as opposed to the busier Thursdays/Fridays/Saturdays," Hesser said. "We obliged."
As for why Sunday brunch? "Who doesn't love a fresh craft beer brunch Sunday mornings!" he said.
If that weren't enough, Fifty West also will host Fifty Fest -- a music festival from noon to 11 p.m. Sept. 7. There will be vendors, sponsors, food, beer and live music on two stages. Admission is free.
