Daniel Lundy of Canton was the grand prize winner in the first-ever online Ohio Beer Quiz organized by the Akron Beacon Journal. He received a $50 gift certificate to Willoughby Brewing Co., neon beer sign from Thirsty Dog Brewing Co. and prize package from Havana House.
Lundy was one of three people who answered every question correctly in the contest, which was sponsored by Willoughby, Thirsty Dog and Havana House. His name was chosen randomly among the three as the top winner.
The contest, which focused on the Ohio beer industry, featured new questions each week for a month. There were weekly winners and one grand prize winner. The winner of the fourth week was Jeff Nagle of Barberton.
Overall, 411 people registered and participated in the quiz. Meanwhile, about 2,000 people checked out the quiz but didn't register for prizes.
The hardest question involved annual per capita beer consumption in Ohio. It's 22.2 gallons. Only 13 percent of respondents got that correct.
The easiest question asked people to identify the label for Great Lakes Christmas Ale. Only three people got that wrong.
Thanks to everyone who participated.
