Great Lakes Christmas Ale coming early
Great Lakes Brewing Co. announced today that its Christmas Ale -- which beer drinkers go bonkers over every year and is the brand that launched the Christmas beer phenomenon in Ohio -- will be available on tap at its brewpub only starting at 4 p.m. Oct. 25. Great Lakes spokeswoman Lauren Boveington says the beer is usually available early at the brewpub. Christmas Ale will be sold by the glass only. No growlers or six-packs will be available until Oct. 31 -- the traditional release date. The brewery also is holding a contest to sample the first pour of the 2011 batch. People can email a favorite Christmas Ale photo or memory to laurenb@greatlakesbrewing.com by Oct. 17. A winner will be notified with full instructions by email by Oct. 21.
