Great Lakes wins medals at World Beer Championships
Great Lakes Brewing Co. in Cleveland has won medals for its Blackout Stout, Edmund Fitzgerald Porter and Christmas Ale at the 2012 World Beer Championships conducted by the Beverage Testing Institute of Chicago. Blackout Stout scored 94 points for an exceptional rating and a gold medal in the imperial stout category. Edmund Fitzgerald scored 93 points for an exceptional rating and a gold medal in the porter category. Christmas Ale scored 89 points for a highly recommended rating and a silver medal in the winter ale category. Since 1988, those three beers have won 16 gold medals at the World Beer Championships, with Edmund Fitzgerald Porter achieving “World Champion” status twice.
