HalfCut Grand Opening - Pouring Friday April 18th 2014
On April 18th 2014, HalfCut Beer Cafe will pour its first beers to the public. Beer lovers are invited to come to 1128 Walnut Street and take their pallets on an unforgettable journey. After walking through the doors, they will be welcomed by walls that pay homage to beer. A mural, stretching over 20 feet of raw brick wall, greets you with a couple of familiar faces. This larger than life depiction of the beer making process was created by local artist Keith Neltner (Neltner Small Batch). If these walls could talk, they would tell you the story of how your beer got from the farm to your hand. Giant images portray how “nature and harvest”, “ferment and love”, “explore and deliver” are all crucial steps to satisfying your taste buds.

Standing in line, visitors will shift their gaze to the opposing wall space. Here, the local store, Frameshop, has carefully adorned the walls with all things HalfCut; the idea of which was brought to life during a cross country road trip. The walls are quenched with memories of adventure- a sensation in which HalfCut aspires to awaken in each of it’s customers. These hand crafted works of art are intended to inspire one to go out and explore and discover. Looking around the room, you can’t miss the HalfCut goat, which symbolizes someone going out and trying new things. What HalfCut finds “over the mountain” is what they bring back to the people of OTR.

Explorers are given the freedom to choose how and when they drink their beer. After consolidating with a beerista about which style they’d like to savor, they are given the choice of enjoying their beverage either “here” or “there”. With a hearty selection of cans and bottles to choose from, sturdy growlers to fill, and knowledgeable baristas, customers will experience more than just a place to drink a great beer. And for those in a real hurry, there is a to-go only window on 12th Street. If you chose to pour in, expect full-bodied laughs, fresh thoughts and lively moods.
