Hoppin' Frog tops newspaper readers' list
The Akron Beacon Journal today published its "Beacon's Best" awards for 2011. Hoppin' Frog Brewery in Akron was selected by readers as the top "Local brewery/Craft beer." The rest of the top five, in order, were: Great Lakes Brewing Co. in Cleveland, Thirsty Dog Brewing Co. in Akron, Ohio Brewing Co. in Akron and Portage Lakes Brewing Co. (a beer store in the Portage Lakes). Readers cast nearly 155,000 votes across nine major categories and 127 subcategories.
