Kevin Moreland, the head brewer at Listermann/Triple Digit in Cincinnati for the last two years, is leaving the company to open another brewery in the community, Listermann/Triple Digit said Monday in a news release.
Listermann launched the Triple Digit brand under Moreland and the brewery has grown from producing 50 barrels a year to an estimated 1,300 this year.
“Kevin has been a huge asset to us from the very beginning,” owner Dan Listermann said in a prepared statement. “I feel we have a great team in place to maintain the standard he has set here and continue to grow.”
Assistant brewer Patrick Gilroy has been promoted to the head brewer position. He started at Listermann/Triple Digit a year ago. Before coming to Listermann, Gilroy was the coffee roaster at Coffee Emporium and an avid homebrewer.
“I am very excited about this new opportunity,” he said. “I look forward to maintaining the high quality of beer Kevin has established, and adding my own twist to some others and new ones.”
Moreland is staying on to help Gilroy and the brewery for the next 60 days, the news release said. All of the core beers Moreland has brewed will stay at the brewery. "So rest assured, your Cincinnatus, Chickow!, Nutcase and more are all safe," the news release said.
Listermann/Triple Digit is planning a going away party for Moreland at the end of January. No further details about Moreland's next venture were included in the release.
