Ceramic Decorating Co., the same company that prints the images on Stone Brewing’s bottles, will do the work for the Cincinnati brewery. Screen printing involves the image being placed directly on the bottle so there's no paper label.
(UPDATE: I originally reported that Listermann/Triple Digit would be the first such craft brewer in Ohio, but others have done screen printing, including Thirsty Dog Brewing Co. on its 1.5-liter magnum bottle of 12 Dogs of Christmas.)
Listermann also is making the transition from 22-ounce bottles to 12-ounce bottles. Listermann Nutcase Peanut Butter Porter, Triple Digit Aftermath and Triple Digit Chickow! will be available in the smaller bottles soon.
Why the change to the smaller size?
“It’s hard to sell 22s in bars,” owner Dan Listermann said.
Craft beer in cans might be all the rage, but the brewery got a deal on a six-head bottling machine and the screen printing will differentiate the Listermann and Triple Digit brands, he said.
The brewery also will release the 2013 version of Cincinnatus Stout on Friday (Nov. 29) as part of a Black Friday celebration.
"Black Friday is for black beers," brewery spokesman Jason Brewer said.
In addition to the Cincinnatus release, the tasting room will offer the 2012 Cincinnatus on draft, along with Cranium and other dark beers.
Cincinnatus is a stout aged in bourbon barrels. Listermann also will offer vertical four-packs of the annual brew. One pack will include a bottle each of the 2011 and 2012 versions, and two bottles of the 2013 version for $27.99. The other pack will feature two bottles from last year and two bottles from this year for $22.99.
The brewery will be open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday.
