When Fred Karm started out as a professional brewer in the early 1990s, there weren’t many beer festivals around to show off his talent. It’s a much different story today. "It seems like I could involve us in some kind of festival twice each weekend, maybe four times during the summer," said Karm, the owner of Hoppin' Frog Brewery in Akron. "I get continuous requests to do festivals." As interest in and sales of craft beer continue to grow, so do the number of beer-related events and festivals. There are so many now that beer experts can offer only an educated guess on the overall number nationwide — even for major ones that draw thousands of drinkers.
