The octoBREWfest craft beer festival this Saturday (Sept. 21) in Boardman will feature a local farmer's market. Along with local restaurants and The Sprouted Table, 10 or more local farmers will participate, including Field Fresh Farm, Pancake Maples, Conkle Family Farms, Dandelion Lane Farm, Her Primitive Ways, Countryside Farm Market and The Way Nature Intended.
The beer festival carries the tagline: Firkins, Frankfurters, Farmer’s Food and Fall Seasonals. The event will showcase cask conditioned beers as well as pumpkin, German and other seasonal craft beers.
“After our restaurants participated in 30 Mile Meal’s recent restaurant week, we became even more excited about the possibility of having local farmers at octoBREWfest," Sandy Reda, fest organizer and owner of Magic Tree Pub & Eatery and Vintage Estate Wine and Beer, said in a prepared statement. “Fresh locally sourced foods, gourmet hot dogs and fresh firkins is a totally new concept for a craft beer festival in this area, and we think it will be something very special."
“Over 30 specially brewed cask ales paired with local fresh foods is definitely
something exciting for attendees to experience," co-organizer Phill Reda added.
The festival is 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Shepherd Event Center. The event benefits the nonprofit Making Kids Count.
