Ohio Beer Quiz winner announced for first week

Matthew Baltes of the Aurora area was the first-week winner in the Akron Beacon Journal's monthlong Ohio Beer Quiz. He will receive a $50 gift card to Willoughby Brewing Co. Eighty people correctly answered all 10 questions. Baltes' name was then selected at random as the winner.
The question asking people to name Ohio's oldest continuous operating brewery tripped up the most people. Only 65 percent of the nearly 300 participants who registered for the prizes correctly selected Anheuser-Busch. Anheuser-Busch has operated a brewery in Columbus since 1968. Many people chose Great Lakes Brewing, the state's oldest craft brewery that opened in 1988.
The second week of the quiz is now up running and includes video questions from Rick Seibt, brewmaster at Willoughby Brewing, and Jay Wince, owner and brewer at Weasel Boy Brewing in Zanesville. The prize for the second week is another $50 gift card to Willoughby Brewing.
It's not too late to participate. To be eligible for the prizes, you must register and provide some personal information.
