Ohio Brewing Co. expanding, adds bottling machine
Ohio Brewing Co. in Akron is expanding. The brewery recently added a six-head, Meheen bottling machine and a Quadrel labeling machine. (Quadrel Labeling Systems is based in Mentor, Ohio.) The brewery had previously been bottling on contract. Workers are able to crank out 60 to 65 cases an hour in the warmer weather -- more when the temperatures are cooler. "We'll be able to get our beers in more of the marketplace," said Chris Verich, the director of brewing operations who's pictured below. "We've been waiting for this day when we could do our own bottling. No more contracting." Ohio Brewing has inked a deal with Premium Beverage Supply in Columbus to have its beer distributed in central Ohio, he said. The brewery also has plans to expand distribution to western Pennsylvania.
