Pawpaw beer aplenty at the Ohio Pawpaw Festival
The 13th annual Ohio Pawpaw Festival, which starts today (Sept. 16) at Lake Snowden in Albany in southeastern Ohio, will feature plenty of pawpaw beers this year. If you're not familiar with the pawpaw, it's a fruit native to southern Ohio that has a tropical flavor. The following Ohio breweries will be there with pawpaw beers: Marietta, Pawpaw Wheat; Weasel Boy, Weasel Paw Pawpaw Pale Ale; Jackie O's, South Paw; and Black Box, Cookie Duster. Buckeye Brewing also is participating but the festival website doesn't mention the specific beer it's bringing. The Pawpaw Festival includes music, food, contests and art. Tickets are $6. Kids under 12 are admitted free.
