People named Miller to get free Miller Lite
Forget about keeping up with the Jones. It'd be better to hang with the Millers. MillerCoors is handing out gift cards for a free case of Miller Lite to anybody named Miller -- first name, middle name or last name -- as part of an "It's Miller Time On Us" promotion. Of course, you have to be of legal drinking age.
Millers can stop by one of nine cities -- including Cincinnati -- hosting the special giveaway. They will receive a $25 It's Miller Time gift card after showing proper identification. Gift cards are limited to one per person and must be collected within the hours of the event.
The Cincinnati giveaway is from 5 to 8 p.m. July 17 at the Holy Grail Tavern & Grille. There's also one in Pittsburgh from 4 to 7 p.m July 24 at Station Square. Other events are set for Las Vegas, Charlotte, Milwaukee, Chicago, Philadelphia, Phoenix and Indianapolis.
Miller is the sixth most popular surname in the United States. The U.S. Census Bureau reported there were 1.1 million Millers in the 2000 census. (Only Smith, Johnson, Williams, Brown and Jones -- in that order -- outpaced Miller.)
“Miller Time is all about those moments when you’re hanging out with your real friends and enjoying the great taste of Miller Lite,” Ryan Reis, senior director of marketing for Miller Lite, said in a prepared statement. “Because Miller Time starts with Miller, we decided to give some Miller Lite to our namesakes to share with their friends. As the sixth most common last name in America, we know there are a lot of Millers ready to celebrating Miller Time on us. And if you’re not a Miller, grab your friends who are and bring them to one of our events.”
