The Global Beer Network, a U.S. importer of more than 60 Belgian beer labels, has added Petrus Aged Red Ale from Bavik Brewery to its portfolio and is distiributing the beer in Ohio. The beer, which is 8.5 percent alcohol by volume, is made by combining Petrus Aged Pale with a dark, sweet double ale and fresh cherries, the importer said.
"Petrus Aged Red is incredibly unique with a supremely invigorating taste," Global Beer Network President Steve Villani said in a prepared statement. "Petrus Aged Pale Ale has a passionate fan following. When you blend in cherries and amp up the alcohol, the result is a beer with a slightly sour bite blanketed by a light fruit flavor that is balanced through the oak barrel aging."
The beer sells for $12.99 for a 750 ml bottle or $15.99 for a four-pack of 11.2-ounce bottles. It is available at Winking Lizard locations in Ohio, the importer said.
Meanwhile, Stella Artois is introducing Stella Artois Cidre to the growing U.S. cider market. It will be released in 26 states, including Ohio, starting Monday (May 13). The beer, fermented at the Anheuser-Busch brewery in Baldwinsville, N.Y., is 4.5 percent alcohol by volume. It will be available in four-packs of 12-ounce bottles and single 24-ounce bottles.
“Stella Artois Cidre is designed to be savored and is very different from sweeter, domestic U.S. ciders,” Anheuser-Busch Vice President of import, craft and specialty brands Adam Oakley said in a prepared statement. “Stella Artois Cidre has the potential to change people’s perceptions of cider here, offering a refreshing alternative to white wine.”
