Samuel Adams to release wedding beer
Samuel Adams is releasing a limited edition beer made for wedding celebrations. The beer will be available for purchase on only one day, though, and only at the Samuel Adams brewery in Boston. (Samuel Adams also has breweries in Cincinnati and Pennsylvania.)
Brewlywed Ale is a Belgian-style pale golden ale. Only 500 cases were made. The cost is $14.99 per 750 mL bottle.
Samuel Adams is encouraging people to show up July 26 at the brewery in wedding attire. The first 20 people who show up in their wedding outfits will be moved to the front of the line, and whoever travels the farthest will receive a bottle signed by Jim Koch and a private tasting with a Samuel Adams brewer.
"Unquestionably, beer is the centerpiece of a great wedding," Koch said in a prepared statement. "I brewed a special recipe for my own wedding and kept the tradition going by brewing the first batch of Samuel Adams Noble Pils for my daughter's wedding day. With Brewlywed Ale, we're celebrating the specialty-beer tradition with our drinkers while honoring a custom dating back to Middle Ages.
