Cincinnati’s favorite Strong Beer festival is back and better than ever! Welcome back Cincinnati’s Craft Brewer’s Starkbierfest, hosted by Listermann Brewing Company.
Starkbierfest is the swan song for Cincinnati Brewer’s strong beers for the season and the welcoming of spring. Starkbierfest is a festival founded by monks in Germany. While law limited their eating, it did not limit what they could drink. The brewed high ABV, nutrient rich beers to compensate.
Following tradition, most beers at Starkbierfest will be 7.5% or higher with a couple lighter beer options on draft (breweries rotating) on the Party Source Beer Trailers with every one of them being brewed in the Greater Cincinnati Area.
There will be live music all day, performed by local musicians. Friday will be headlined by the Gamut and Saturday will be headlined by the Just Strange Brothers. Several different food venders will be on hand to serve a wide range of food. Commemorative glass mugs will be provided by Boelter Beverage.
There is no cost to attend Starkbierfest, just pay for whatever you eat and drink! We have had such an overwhelming response to the previous festivals we have thrown, that we have decided to make this a two day event!
Friday is Free Food Friday (while supplies last) provided by BrewRiver GastroPub. We cannot stress enough to get here early for free food as it will run out fast. Beer and food start at 5 p.m. and going until midnight. There will also be vegetarian/Lenten options available for purchase, and more food to purchase once the free food runs out.
Saturday is kicked off with our world famous Kegs and Eggs. Bacon and eggs will be provided at no cost for festival goers and volunteers starting at 9 am while supplies last. 10 am is when the second day of the festival starts and goes until 11 pm with live music all day.
The breweries involved are: Blank Slate, Fifty West, Christian Moerlein, Rock Bottom, Rivertown, Mt. Carmel, Madtree, Cellar Dweller, Wiedemann, Rhinegeist, Bad Tom, Ei8ht Ball, Triple Digit, and Listermann.
Listermann Brewing Company has teamed up with the German-American Citizens League of Greater Cincinnati to host the event. They will be bringing an authentic German feel to the festival, as well as booths, banners and parades to talk about their respective clubs.
The ceremonial keg tapping of the Listermann Starkbierfest beer will be held at 4 p.m. Like the all of the festivals previously held at LBC, this event will be family and dog friendly. We had a record 32 dogs at Oktoberfest in October and we would like to break that record!
More info on the music and food vendors will be provided later. Please RSVP to the event on Facebook and stay tuned there for updates: https://www.facebook.com/events/544245982339966/
