Thirsty Dog brews beer for the end of the world
Thirsty Dog Brewing Co. in Akron is offering a special beer to celebrate the impending end of the world. Yes, the apocalypse is arriving Dec. 21. At least that’s what some folks are saying because the Mayan calendar doesn’t go beyond that date.
So Thirsty Dog has created Mayan Last Dog, a 7.5 percent alcohol chocolate honey stout.
“This may be the last beer you ever drink,” Thirsty Dog co-owner John Najeway said. “Say goodbye to all you know and love with this bittersweet, big, bold, black beer filled with old world and traditional Mayan spices, including honey and cocoa nibs. Drink heartily and rest in peace, or join us on Dec. 22 for more 12 Dogs of Christmas ale.”
Mayan Last Dog — there were only 150 cases produced — will be available in four-packs and retail for $12.99 starting next week at area grocery and beer stores, and at the brewery. The beer also will be available on draft.
