Thirsty Dog Brewing Co. is making two special beers to help commemorate the 200th birthday of Cuyahoga Falls. Bicentennial Old Ale will be available on draft starting Saturday and Sunday at the Frozen River Festival at Falls River Square in downtown Cuyahoga Falls. The event marks the kickoff of a year's worth of events celebrating the city’s bicentennial. The beer is 7 percent alcohol and is made with dark malts, giving it a slight chocolate flavor, said John Najeway, co-owner of Thirsty Dog. Next month, it will be available in bottles in area grocery stores. The brewery also will make a nut brown ale called Bicentennial Nut Brown for release in August. Thirsty Dog created the beers after being contacted by the city’s bicentennial committee. "They thought it'd be neat," Najeway said about the collaboration.
