Thirsty Dog Brewing Co. will participate in the Denver Rare Beer Tasting VI that supports Pints for Prostates. The event is set for Oct. 3 in Denver, the same weekend as the Great American Beer Festival.
Pints for Prostates today (July 31) released its final list of 50 brewers who will pour rare, exotic and vintage beers. Thirsty Dog, from Akron, is the only Ohio brewery and is participating for the second time. It will serve its Cerasus Dog Sour Flanders-style red aged for three years in oak with Michigan cherries.
"This beer is very rare and not in distribution and comes available on the rare occasion as we have started to build our sour program," brewery co-owner John Najeway said in an email. "The last beer we had in Denver for this was our bourbon barrel aged Siberian Night, which we then moved to production and bottle today and won a silver medal at the 2014 World Beer Cup. I hope this will go the same way.
"I was asked the first time due to our support of Pints for Prostates and holding a couple events here at the brewery. We receive request every day for donations and we support as much as we can in our home base of Akron, Ohio, and Northeast Ohio but when it get to other states we distribute in we still do plenty but limit the causes to help streamline requests. Pints for Prostates is a national organization. And one of biggest and best supporters since the start of this has been my Dad who is a prostate cancer survivor. So whatever we can do to help by raising a pint, I'm in."
