Traveler declares 2013 as "Year of the Shandy"
The Traveler Beer Co. in Burlington, Vt., has declared 2013 as the "Year of the Shandy." The brewery, formed last year, has released two year-round brews: Curious Traveler Shandy, a wheat ale with lemon and lime, and Tenacious Traveler, a wheat beer with ginger and clover honey. The beers are available in Ohio.
"You're going to see big growth in the shandy beer category this year, with a number of new players coming to the table," Alan Newman, founder of
Traveler Beer, said in a prepared statement. "It's our mission to introduce drinkers to a craft beer Shandy that is deliciously refreshing, sessionable, and true to the spirit of the American craft beer movement."
