West Point holding black & tan challenge
West Point Market in Akron is asking brewers to create their best black & tan during a special beer tasting from 7 to 9 p.m. March 15. The event will feature 11 breweries and the "Black & Tan Challenge," in which each brewery will create its own black & tan using its beers.
People attending the event, held in honor of St. Patrick's Day, will be able to vote on their favorite and the winner will walk away with bragging rights.
The participating breweries are: Bell’s, Lagunitas, Thirsty Dog, Buckeye, Guinness, Great Black Swamp, Hoppin’ Frog, Alltech, Innis & Gunn, Great Lakes and Elevator. In addition to serving their black & tan creations, the breweries also will serve their beers. For a full list of the brews, click here.
The event will feature appetizers from executive chef Tom Loraditch, and jazz from the Josh Rzepka Trio. West Point Market also will auction a Guinness jacket. Reservations are required. Tickets are $35 in advance, or $40 at the door. To make a reservation, call 330-864-2151 ext. 129.
