West Point Market plans Weasel Boy, mead tastings
West Point Market in Akron will hold two special tastings this month.
Weasel Boy Brewing Co. from Zanesville -- which won a gold medal for its Anastasia Russian Imperial Stout at the Great American Beer Festival last year -- will take over the taps of the grocery store's growler station from noon to 4 p.m. Jan. 26. Owner and brewer Jay Wince will visit to chat about his beers. The following beers will be available: Dancing Ferret IPA, Plaid Ferret Scottish Ale, Bitter Sable Black IPA and Bourbon Barrel Aged Anastasia Russian Imperial Stout. Samples will be 25 cents and growlers will be available for purchase.
Meanwhile, Crafted Artisan Meadery owner Kent Waldeck will visit from noon to 4 p.m. Jan. 19 to promote his meads. He will serve Tupelo Mead, Hop Nectar, Blue Honey Melomel and Spiced Apple Cyser. Samples will be 25 cents. Crafted Artisan is located in Suffield Township in Portage County.
