Youngstown Mayor Chuck Sammarone will tap the ceremonial keg of the Big Tap In Beer at the third annual The Big Tap In beer festival next month. The Big Tap In Beer was made special at Cellar Rats Brewery for the April 21 event, held at the Covelli Centre in downtown Youngstown.
Youngstown mayor kicks off The Big Tap In
Youngstown Mayor Chuck Sammarone will tap the ceremonial keg of the Big Tap In Beer at the third annual The Big Tap In beer festival next month. The Big Tap In Beer was made special at Cellar Rats Brewery for the April 21 event, held at the Covelli Centre in downtown Youngstown.“We are excited to have the city’s mayor open The Big Tap In ceremonies,” organizer Sandy Reda said Wednesday in a prepared statement. “We expect over 2,000 attendees to be visiting Youngstown for The Big Tap In and they will be traveling from all across the country. Greetings from the city’s mayor will be a great way to welcome them to the city.”

This year’s craft beer and cider tasting also will feature a ton of live entertainment, including Edison’s Medicine, Youngstown Percussion Collective, Mt. Carmel Society Band, Tribe of Eos Belly Dancers, Veterans Memorial Pipe Band, Steve Vuich and The Djembe Friends.
“With the beer and cider list posted on www.bigtapin.com, over 20 local food vendors and 17 local artists slated to be at the event, we are certain that we will sell out of tickets very soon for the Big Tap In 2012,” said Shelly Marlowe, co-president of Making Kids Count Inc., a nonprofit that helps children in the Mahoning Valley. The event benefits the nonprofit group.
General admission tickets are $45 per person and can be purchased at Vintage Estate Wine and Beer in Boardman or online at www.bigtapin.com. VIP tickets have already sold out. There will be no ticket sales at the door.
