Gatta Productions is planning a multi-day beer festival this fall in downtown Youngstown that will culminate with a main tasting Oct. 5 at the Covelli Centre. The Youngstown BeerFest will feature several beer-related events around the city, according to a news release issued Tuesday.
"There will be a number of smaller events leading up to Saturday," Dominic Gatta III said in a prepared statement. "Some restaurants downtown will be hosting tastings and brewer 'meet-and-greet' sessions during the week."
The news release didn't provide many details about the event, which sounds similar to "Beer Weeks" held in other Ohio cities. Gatta couldn't be reached for comment. In the release, he said the event "will feature a large variety of beers from the region, as well as from across the country and around the globe."
Ticket information and a list of participating breweries will be released in the coming weeks. The event website, www.YoungstownBeerFest.com, will be launched soon.
A portion of the proceeds will benefit Golden String Inc., a Youngstown-based nonprofit that provides help for people with disabilities.
