After outlasting former ace CC Sabathia, the Tribe bludgeoned the Yankee bullpen for nine runs in the seventh inning to spoil the opener of the New Yankee Stadium with a 10-2 win.
It is the Indians second consecutive victory.
Both Sabathia and Indians starter Cliff Lee were effective, but each took more than 100 pitches to get to the sixth inning in a 1-1 tie.
With Sabathia out of the game, the Indians took advantage of relievers Jose Veras and Damaso Marte in the seventh, highlighted by a grand slam by Grady Sizemore and Victor Martinez.
