When the Indians need a win they turn to... Carl Pavano?
The Indians are now 6-1 in his May starts after Sunday's late-inning win over the New York Yankees. The veteran right hander lost three times in April in four tries, the Indians lost his other start as well.
There was also another strange sighting at The Prog last night: manufacturing a run.
After the Yankees committed one of baseball's cardinal sins by walking Trevor Crowe to lead off the bottom of the ninth, Asdrubal Cabrera moved him over with a sacrifice bunt, with two strikes.
After a walk to Ben Francisco, Jhonny Peralta lined a 2-1 pitch down the third base line for a 5-4 Indians win.
Oh yea... whoever had reliever Rafael Betancourt in the office pool for "next Indian on the DL" just won the pot. Betancourt strained his right groin in Sunday's game and is headed to the disabled list. No word on his replacement yet.
NY Post game story: BULLPEN FAILURE IN NINTH DOOMS YANKS
It never fails. Yankees lose and and DOOM is in the headline.
