Aeros 2010 staff in place

By sstorm Published: December 11, 2009

The Akron Aeros learned the rest of the team's coaching staff for next season on Friday, a staff featuring a familiar face returning in the role of pitching coach.

Joining manager Joel Skinner in returning to Akron after an absence is pitching coach Greg Hibbard, who previously coached the Aeros for the 2005 and 2007 seasons.

While Hibbard returns to the Aeros after a short hiatus, Skinner makes his first return to Akron since managing the team for two seasons in 1998-99 and following a lengthy stint in Cleveland serving as the Indians third-base coach before being fired along with the rest of the staff of manager Eric Wedge Sept. 30.

In addition to Skinner and Hibbard, newcomers Jim Rickon (hitting coach) and Chad Wolfe (trainer) also join the Aeros staff for the 2010 season.

Rickon, a Cleveland native and Hudson resident who has coached in the Indians farm system since beginning as a player/coach at short-season Mahoning Valley in 2002, has spent the last three seasons as the hitting coach at low Class-A Lake County.

Wolfe spent last season as the head trainer at high Class-A Kinston.
