Aeros 2B Phelp promoted
Aeros 2B Cord Phelps was promoted to Triple-A Columbus Wednesday, taking the place of Anderson Hernandez, who was promoted to Cleveland yesterday.
Phelps batted .296 with eight doubles, 23 RBI and 25 runs scored in 53 games during his first exposure to the Double-A level. Last season at high Class-A Kinston, he batted .261 over 130 games.
The 23-year-old Stanford product and was selected by the Indians in the third round of the 2008 draft.
Although a corresponding move has not yet been made, a good guess is that Kinston 2B Jason Kipnis will be promoted to Akron. The Indians second-round draft pick (63rd overall) from last year is batting .303 with 12 doubles, three triples, six home runs and 31 RBI in 53 games with the K-Tribe.
