Aeros call up McBride
The Akron Aeros made two roster moves today as hot-hitting out fielder/first baseman Matt McBride has been called up from Class A Kinston and left-handed pitcher Ryan Edell will join the Aeros after spending time at Triple A Columbus.
They will replace outfielder John Drennen and right-handed pitcher Erik Stiller. Drennen will go to Kinston, while Stiller will go to Class A Mahoning Valley.
Before the callup McBride was leading the Carolina League with a .405 batting average (.405 AVG/453.OBP /.667 SLG). He has six home runs and 36 RBI; struck out 15 times and walked 11 in 126 at bats.
McBride will be in the Aeros lineup tonight in right field, wearing No. 36.
Drennen, a once touted prospect, continues to struggle in his young career. In 21 games this season he was hitting .191 with one home run and 10 RBI.
